Yves Meyer, the 2018 FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup runner-up, was today announced as the first driver to commit to the 2019 event and aims to improve on last years result by taking the overall win.
“My podium at the FIA IDC last year was the best result in my career to date and it was an amazing experience overall” stated the young Swiss driver.
“I think a few of the other drivers may have underestimated me last year, but they certainly know what I am capable of achieving now! Having finished second last year, the only way to progress this year is to take the overall win and I know that I am capable of that”, he concluded.
It has been a busy few months for the driver from Schwyz, South of Zurich, who gained further international experience after his exploits at the FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup in Tokyo, by taking part in the Oman Oil Marketing International Drift Series in Muscat.
Having now returned home, Meyer is competing this season in the Drift Kings Europe series, making it onto the last step of the podium at the recent third round in Italy.
The FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup was founded in 2017 as the first ever Drifting event to be run under FIA regulations and the 2017 and 2018 editions were held in the Odaiba district of Tokyo. The 2019 edition will be held at the famous Tsukuba Circuit from the 29th November to the 1st December.
